Mom life can get really busy! It’s easy to forget to take care of our own selves. My morning routine can get so frantic at times, I barely have a few minutes to get ready myself before I rush off to work.

Remember those luxurious days before kids when you had all the time in the world to oil, shampoo, condition, dry and style your hair? We don’t see too many of those days any more do we? On the other hand, after the dramatic postpartum hair fall that I had, I realized that I cannot completely neglect my hair either. So over the last 2 years, I have adopted various hacks to save time and get my hair ready faster, without compromising on hair care.

Here are my top 8 time saving hair care tips for busy moms:

1. Apply hair oil at night

The morning routine is the most frantic for any mom. Save yourself some time in the morning by applying hair oil at night before going to bed. Leaving oil in your hair overnight also gives it sufficient time to get absorbed into the hair, giving a deeper conditioning.

2. Warm hair oil slightly before applying

If leaving oil in your hair overnight is not for you, or if you are short on time, warm the oil slightly before applying. It helps in faster absorption of the oil.

3. Skip oil altogether, use a leave in conditioner

I still make it a point to oil my hair at least once a week, but at times it is just not possible. On days when I just do not have enough time for oiling, washing and drying my hair, I skip it all and just use a leave in product. A leave in conditioner is a really quick solution to hydrate and detangle hair, making hair smooth, manageable and shiny.

4. Use a dry shampoo

If your hair is looking and feeling greasy but you don’t have enough time for a wash, dry shampoo will do the trick. Dry shampoo is a quick and convenient way to make hair look and smell fresh instantly.

5. Go short

Honestly during the first few crazy months of motherhood, I just did not have the time or the energy to spare on hair care. Not to mention the dramatic postpartum hair loss. Going short saved my hair, my time and my sanity.

6. Embrace the classic ponytail

The classic ponytail is simple, comfortable and the quickest hairstyle ever. Its often my hairstyle-of-choice when I need to rush out. You can even tie it up while you’re on the go.

7. Style your hair while you sleep!

Remember the pigtails we were forced to wear in school? They are actually your best friend when it comes to styling your hair. This is the most effortless way to get bouncy wavy hair in just  few minutes without any fancy equipment. Braid your hair before going to bed at night. Open it out in the morning and just lightly finger comb. Ta-da!

8. Opt for braids

Braids are a great protective and volumizing hairstyle and are fairly low maintenance. Using braids such as Xpression hair, you can create your own unique hairstyle from an everyday look, to a vacation look or a party look. They have a soft, smooth texture and are tangle free and hassle free.
