Softsens Baby Care Range – Review

Softsens review - Baby & Beyond

Baby N was born with sensitive skin, so I have to be extremely careful while choosing any products for him. Before he was born, I had no idea what alkali-free and paraben-free even meant. I had purchased a whole bagful of the most expensive imported body washes, creams and powders, however most of them did not suit his skin and still lie untouched. I switched to using natural products for him as far as possible.

Of late I had been hearing a lot about the Softsens range of baby care products that is dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic and alkaline & paraben free. So I was very happy to have the opportunity to try out the products myself.

Softsens sent across a complete baby care hamper with 8 different products to pamper my baby. Here is my experience and review.

Packaging:

Baby N was most exited to help me with the unboxing of this one. The hamper was really well packaged in a cardboard box tied with a gold ribbon. I felt like I was receiving a gift. In fact this hamper would be the perfect gift for a baby shower or for a new mom.

The first thing that hits you when you open the hamper is the fresh fragrance that will remind you of a newborn baby. There was a pamphlet inside with detailed information about the products and also a very sweet personal note for the mom.

  • Oval smooth shape that fits in your palm and glides smoothly on your baby’s skin.
Our Experience:
  • This is the first time I used a soap bar for my baby, I have always used liquid lotion. So I was concerned about the soap leaving the skin dry, but in fact it left his skin soft and smooth
  • Gives a nice, creamy lather and cleans the body thoroughly
  • Did not cause any irritation to the skin

Price: Rs. 45 for 75 gms

Softsens Review - Baby Lotion

Softsens Review – Baby Lotion

Claims:
  • Lightweight non greasy, hydrating formula which won’t clog pores
  • Deeply moisturizes the skin, leaving it soft and supple
  • Delivers moisture and nutrients to the deeper layers of the skin, keeping it hydrated for longer
Our Experience:
  • N has sensitive skin and few of the moisturizers we have tried ended up giving him a rash. But this one suited his delicate skin
  • Left the skin soft, smooth and hydrated
  • Fresh fragrance of shea butter lingered for a couple of hours
  • Did not leave a greasy feel
  • Thin consistency which spreads easily over the skin and absorbs quickly, however I  would have preferred a slightly thicker consistency to prevent excess lotion flowing out while pouring

Price: Rs. 105 for 200 ml

Softsens Review - Baby Cream

Softsens Review – Baby Cream

Contains: Natural milk cream (malai), shea butter, natural moisturizer (glycerin), vitamin E, orange essential oil

Claims:
  • Non-greasy formulation
  • Perfect for all skin types, sensitive, dry or allergy-prone
  • Leaves the skin nourished & well-hydrated from deep within
Our Experience:
  • I usually use either a lotion or a cream, not both together. Also I found the formulation of both quite similar, so I did not see the need for using both
  • Left the skin soft, smooth and hydrated
  • Fresh fragrance of shea butter lingered for a couple of hours
  • Did not leave a greasy feel
  • Similar to the lotion, a thicker, creamier consistency would have been preferable to that excess cream does not pour out when the tube is squeezed

Price: Rs. 135 for 100 gms

6. Baby Wipes:

Softsens Review - Baby Wipes

Softsens Review – Baby Wipes

Contains: Aloe vera, olive oil extract, vitamin E

Claims:
  • All natural
  • Extra Thick and absorbant
  • Paraben, Alcohol and Colour Free
  • Infused with lotion and Vitamin E to moisturize and cooling Aloe Vera to sooth the skin
Our Experience:
  • Baby N’s skin is prone to rashes so I prefer to use a cotton napkin while wiping him in between diaper changes. However while traveling we end up using wipes too. Also we use wipes to clean up his hands and nails after art activities or after playing outdoors. I really liked the Softsens Wipes. In fact this is my favourite product from the entire range
  • Well moisturized, do not dry up quickly
  • Did not cause irritation to the skin
  • Thicker than other wipes I have used
  • The sticker on the pack is quite strong, even after repeated uses it is not peeling off like some other packs I have tried. This helps the wipes retain moisture for longer
  • These wipes have become a staple in my diaper bag

Price: Rs. 65 for a pack of 20

Price: Rs. 110 for 200 gms

Overall Recommendation:

I would certainly recommend this range of product for babies, especially the wipes, wash, shampoo and lotion. Overall what we really liked about this range is:

  • Full of natural goodness
  • Very gentle on baby’s delicate skin
  • Fresh fragrances that are subtle and not too overpowering
  • Quite reasonably priced, value for money

These products look great. I am hearing such good things about this brand. But I am a bit wary of using this as it contains milk and babyT is allergic to it. I wonder if it will have an impact if applied externally.
