This post is part of a series of posts I am writing titled Diary of a Baby chronicling the candid confessions of a baby from 0 to 2 years old.

You can read the previous post in the series here: The Truth About Playdates – A Toddler Tells All!

You can find the entire series here: Diary of a Baby

Age: 14 months old

Dear Diary,

I have some really exciting news to share..last week I took my first independent baby steps. Yes, I can walk on my own now! This is the best thing to have happened to me in a long time. So I am still learning to walk. I take a few unsteady shaky steps and then kind of flop down, but I keep getting up and trying all day long. This changes everything…Opens the door to a whole new world of possibilities.

Meanwhile my climbing, crawling and cruising game is super strong! And my escape artist skills are getting honed too. I can now climb off the bed or couch, and climb up and down the stairs. The adults better be careful about leaving any doors opened..I will be out quick as a flash.

My next aim is to try to get out of the crib. I’ve been practicing this one on the sly since months and am so close to perfecting it!

I think the adults are on to me…They’ve lowered the crib setting so I can barely peer over it now. How cruel is that!! But I won’t let that stop me. You know me Diary, I’m no quitter. You know what they say, there is more than one way to skin a cat (why do they say that though? Who would want to skin a poor cat??) Anyway, if climbing out of the crib is no longer an option, I am just going to stand in there, scream and proceed to throw out the pillow, blanket, bedsheet, everything on to the floor. Sooner or later someone will come and get me out..Ha! Mamma thought she outsmarted me but the joke’s on her!

How cute! Toddlers are some obstinate lot! They always find a way to their mischief, how it’s a mystery yet! I like it that it’s a baby’s diary, written from his point of view.
