MamaEarth Herbal Teas for Mamas to De-stress and Feel Better

I am a total teaholic, but I usually need my tea to be the basic “kadak” (strong) chai, tea leaves brewed with milk and sugar. My only experience with herbal teas so far had been the homemade ‘kadha’ which mom used to make whenever I had a cold. Though of course it was instantly effective, its strong bitter taste left me with no interest in trying out any herbal tea.

Until now. These days I am reading so much about the benefits of herbal teas, I decided to give it another go. Especially since MamaEarth has launched a range of teas specifically keeping in mind the needs of new mothers.

As new moms, we constantly battle fatigue, anxiety, sleeplessness, acidity and a host of other symptoms. Anything that can help soothe these even a little is a welcome relief. I had the opportunity to try out MamaEarth ‘Feel Better Tea’ and ‘Stress Relief Tea’ and I have to admit, they definitely did make me feel better.

MamaEarth Stress Relief Tea:

I really like the packaging of this one. It comes in a reusable tin with 30 infusion bags individually packed in paper sachets. This tea is intended to relieve some of the stress that comes with being a new mother.

Contains:
  • Eucalyptus Leaf – reduces stress hormones in the body
  • Green tea – reduces stress and anxiety
  • Indian sarsaparilla root – relieves mental and physical fatigue
  • Ginger root – acts as a natural antioxidant
  • Cinnamon bark – acts as a natural antioxidant
  • Cardamom seeds – eases muscle tension and relieves mental strain

My Experience:

This tea does what it claims, it relaxes and soothes the mind and body. Ever since I became a mom, I have been suffering from restless, disturbed sleep, but with this tea I am definitely able to sleep slightly better.

In fact it isn’t just for new moms alone. The first person to try this tea even before I could get hold of it myself was my mother-in-law. She said it was just what she needs…it instantly made her feel light and relaxed. She now drinks a cup of this tea every day before her afternoon nap.

Price and Availability:

Available for INR 599 each (for a box of 30 tea bags) at Amazon, Nykaa and MamaEarth website.

What I like about MamaEarth herbal teas:

  • Caffeine free
  • FSSAI approved
  • Infused with natural herb-based ingredients
  • Made from age-old, tried and tested recipes…I am sure you would have heard of most of these ingredients being used in Indian households for various home-remedies due to their medicinal properties
  • The taste is mild, not too strong or bitter
  • I found both to be quite effective
  • Information regarding ingredients, allergens, nutritional facts, directions for use, health precautions is clearly mentioned on the packaging
  • The Stress Relief tea comes in a reusable tin box

MamaEarth teas are part of their “Traditional Receipes” range of products for mothers. My fellow mommy blogger Lata Tokhi shares her experience with the other products from this range, Apple Cider Vinegar and Plant DHA Supplements.

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. MamaEarth sent me the products to try out and share my honest and independent review.

Please refer the ingredients and allergen information on the packaging before consuming. If you are pregnant / breastfeeding, do consult your medical practitioner before consuming.

Hi Alpana, true, though I am also not a new mom anymore. My kid is 18 months old and I still feel that these teas are very beneficial for me. Also as I mentioned, my mother-in-law has started regularly drinking them and in fact my husband too had the Feel Better tea when he had a cold. So really anyone can benefit from these. Hope you do try them out soon.

I am not a tea lover, just a cup of strong tea with milk in the morning is enough to keep me happy and satisfied for the day, but then there are days when I crave for tea like as you said moms get stressed and tired and that is the time when I actually want to have a hot cup of tea and I think these teas are best for such occasions. My mother in law is definitely a tea person and Mama earth tea looks like the best option to gift her. Thanks for sharing your honest reviews.

Yes I didn’t think of that…it is indeed great for gifting!

The only tea I enjoy and ever have is green tea. And sometimes it is really difficult to get good tea leaves that will make you want more. Mamas Earth looks like a brand that I would want to try. Thanks for this review
