Funny Business - Diary of a 5 Months Old Baby | Baby & Beyond

This post is part of a series of posts I am writing titled Diary of a Baby chronicling the candid confessions of a baby from 0 to 2 years old.

You can read the previous post in the series here: Expect the Unexpected – Diary of a 4 Months Old Baby

You can find the entire series here: Diary of a Baby

Age: 5 months old

Dear Diary,

The other evening I noticed something unusual going on. There was an unexplained excitement in the air and my Spidey sense was tingling all day long. By evening Mamma had actually changed out of her PJs which she practically lives in. She had put on a nice outfit, untangled her hair out of that hideous bun and made her face look all fancy. She actually looked half presentable! Papa was wearing his favourite shirt too and smiling from ear to ear.

They thought I had dozed off and we whispering excitedly but I was just pretending and I heard it all. The words “date night” we being tossed about. I tell you Diary, I didn’t like the sound of that at all. I’m not going to let any funny business happen under my watch I tell you! I immediately let out my loudest, the-world-is-coming-to-an-end cry and didn’t stop until some mum-mum was offered to me. And then I clung on to Mamma like my life depended on it (which if you think about it, it actually does considering she is my sole source of food and water. So I wasn’t being completely unreasonable!) and I didn’t let go for an hour by which time Papa was sound asleep next to us. Then I quietly knocked off. Phew, I think I successfully diffused a potentially dangerous situation here!

Oh I tell you there was a storm brewing the next morning. The mom-on-a-mission messy bun was back in action and many not-so-subtle you-better-watch-out glances were being thrown at Papa. Yikes, I better be on my best behavior today to avoid that wrath. I’ll remember to throw in some extra-cutesy giggles for Mamma for good measure too.

I better get on it then. Catch you later!

*Sigh* Babies have a sixth sense about these things..I swear! Baby N just somehow sensed it every time the husband and I planned to head out without him. And he would promptly attach himself to me until his dad had passed out next to us and the coast was clear. Even till today at 2 years old, we still have to keep him distracted in the other room and quietly sneak out. Is it just us? Please tell me it was the same with you too!

And don’t forget to come back here tomorrow for the next installment in this series.

Answer to your question Mahak – Every time !!! Every time we wanted to go for a movie she wouldn’t sleep. I had to lie down besides her and pretend to sleep. This went on till she was 2 years old. Babies are super smart !
