Bhandardara is a village in the Western Ghats region, about 185km (approximately 4 hours drive) from Mumbai. Located by the Pravara river, Bhandardara is home to picturesque landscapes of mountains, waterfalls, gorges, Arthur lake and Wilson dam. This is also where the trek to Mount Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashta, begins. Sandhan Valley located close to Bhandardara is famously known as the Grand Canyon of Maharashtra. With all this natural beauty around, Bhandardara is an idea day tip destination for Mumbaikars. And if you prefer a longer stay, the village boasts of a luxurious spa resort as well as an MTDC resort.

So why do I say that this little village will always be close to my heart? Because it was on the very day 2 years ago when we were heading therefor a trip, that we found out we were pregnant.

Well I think “found out” isn’t the right phrase. I think in our hearts we both already knew. The day before I took the test, my husband and I decided to go out on a long drive into the hills and we ended up at Bhandardara. Though neither of us said it, we both knew we wanted to go out on one last romantic long drive…just the two of us… before our world changed forever. It was raining hard and the road was bumpy, slippery and full of potholes. Midway through the drive I started cursing myself for taking the risk in my position. I was really scared and paranoid about whether I had caused any harm to my little baby inside me. I think I didn’t sleep the whole night after getting back home.

But the next morning…2 home tests and 1 sonography later… we confirmed what we had hoped in our hearts all along. Our little fighter was safe and sound and would soon be in our arms!

PS. The card was a surprise for me from the daddy-to-be.
