Budget-Friendly Single Electric Breast Pumps in India | Baby & Beyond

When I started out pumping, I was completely confused and overwhelmed by all the options available in the market with prices ranging from a few thousands to 15-20k. I was working from home and only planned to pump occasionally, once a day or not even that much. Investing too much money in a breast pump did not make sense for me. I started out with a manual breast pump, but found it too strenuous, time consuming and it did not give much milk output. Eventually I switched to a single electric breast pump which was much more efficient.

Single Electric Breast Pump:

With a single electric breast pump, you can pump one side at a time, as opposed to double electric which allows simultaneous pumping from both sides. This worked well for me because I could pump on side side while nursing my baby from the other and then switch over. A single electric breast pump has higher efficiency and performance as compare to a manual one. It is also more portable and lightweight than a double electric pump.

Double electric is a must-have if you are full-time working and you will be pumping at work. It is time saving and really efficient. However if you are only going to be pumping occasionally like I was and if you have the time to pump one side at a time, single electric breast pump will be good enough for you.

Best Single Electric Breast Pumps:

I am sure you must have heard of the brands Medela and Philips Avent which are well renowned and highly rated.

Medela:

Medela has two varients in the single electric breast pump category.

Medela Mini Electric Breast Pump is the basic model with a compact design and battery / power cord option. The suction power is low and this one is recommended for occasional use only.

MRP: Rs. 7,999

Medela Swing is a higher end version with two phase pumping mechanism and fully automatic switching between both phases. This gives better output and is recommended if you will be pumping more frequently.

MRP: Rs. 13,999

Philips Avent:

Philips Avent Comfort Single Electric Breast Pump comes with a soft massage cushion, a gentle stimulation mode and 3 pumping settings.

MRP: Rs. 11,995

Best Budget-Friendly Single Electric Breast Pumps:

However if you are only going to be pumping occasionally, you may be looking for a more economical option. Based on my research, here are the best budget-friendly (not more than INR 5,000) single electric breast pumps available in India, in no particular order.

When I started pumping because of hyperlactation I got a manual pump. And it’s the biggest regret. So, when next female in the family got expected we got an electric one. Yet, I was unaware of so many options, forwarding the list to next mom-to-be.
